Message from CEC Leadership
We are so grateful that CEC was able to host a successful 2020 annual convention in Portland before the onset of COVID-19. And while the world is still on edge and uncertain about the future, we wanted to let you know about our plans for the CEC 2021 Convention & Expo.
With nine months between now and when we gather in Baltimore, we are currently planning a full in-person event. We know the opportunities to network and connect at convention are just as important as the professional learning, which is why we’re working to ensure the event happens. We have already selected 23 pre-convention workshops, added three new programming types, contracted a keynote speaker, signed up onsite volunteers, and registered dozens of attendees.
During our planning, you can rest assured that safety is our first priority. We are monitoring CDC guidelines and having regular calls with the Baltimore Convention Center, and all of our venue partners to ensure that the appropriate precautions are being taken. As those recommendations change in the coming months and as other organizations begin to convene again and learn lessons on social distancing, we will watch, adapt, and ensure that your safety remains our priority.
There will be last-minute issues that may prevent some from attending. We recognize that and understand that we must all be nimble and flexible. If anyone has to cancel their registration due to COVID-related concerns OR if in the rare event that the convention is unable to occur in-person, we will work with you to refund your registration, transfer your registration should a CEC virtual convention be offered, or carry the funds forward to a future CEC event. You can trust there is no need to let a possible cancellation later keep you from registering for the CEC 2021 Convention & Expo now at the early registration rates.
