Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about convention.


Please remember that by attending the CEC 2026 Special Education Convention & Expo, you agree to comply with the CEC Event Rules and Conditions, including all rules in the event information and future correspondence.
 

Getting Ready

This is a come-as-you-are convention! Most attendees choose to wear business casual (we include jeans in that category). We always suggest bringing a sweater or light jacket, as session rooms can get chilly.

 

The average March weather in Salt Lake City is a high of 56 and low of 49, so keep that in mind!

The Salt Palace Convention Center offers two underground parking garages, open 24 hours per day.

There are no shuttles offered between the Convention Center and hotels. All the hotels are within 1.15 miles from the Convention Center. 

Bags, backpacks, purses, etc. are allowed.

The following items are not permitted in the Convention Center:

  • Mylar balloons are not permitted, however.
  • No outside food or beverages are permitted.
  • Glitter and confetti are not allowed in any area of the Convention Center.

Head to Expo Hall in the Salt Palace Convention Center to get your badge. If you pre-registered, head directly to the "badge pickup" desks. 

Registration/Badge Pickup will be open at the following times: 

  • Tuesday, 3/10 | 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm
  • Wednesday, 3/11 | 7:00 am - 6:30 pm
  • Thursday, 3/12 | 7:30 am - 5:30 pm
  • Friday, 3/13 | 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
  • Saturday, 3/14 | 7:30 am - 11:30 am
  • You can add a Workshop to your registration any time before the workshops begin. If you’re in town on Tuesday, you can come to registration from 2:00-7:00 pm to add your workshops and beat the rush on Wednesday morning.
  • There are limited tickets available for the CEC Celebration happening on Friday at the Flanker Kitchen and Sporting Club. Stop by the Special Events Desk in the registration area to purchase.
  • The Awards Luncheon happens on Thursday at 11:30 am. You can check at the Special Events Desk in the registration area to see if tickets are still available.

You can pick up your ticket at the Special Events desk at registration. Any tickets in your name will be available there. 

There will be complimentary WIFI in the public spaces and meeting rooms throughout the Salt Palace. Click on "Guest wi-fi Salt Palace" and follow the prompts. Please note guest WIFI is not intended for streaming video, presentation software, or critical business use.

Meals are not provided as part of the convention registration, but there will be food at various events, and lunch options will be available for purchase in the Expo Hall on Thursday and Friday.

    • 8:00 am-10:00 am | Complimentary coffee in the Expo Hall
    • 11:00 am-1:00 pm | Concession Stands (for purchase) 

**If you’ve purchased a ticket for the Awards Luncheon on Thursday, a plated lunch is included. If you’ve purchased a ticket for the CEC Celebration on Friday, your ticket includes food and is valid for one (1) drink. 
 

You can find the Wellness Pavilion in the Expo Hall. The Wellness Pavilion is sponsored by the Namaste Project.

 

You can take a moment for a mindfulness break, grab some free resources, as well as join a 5-7 minute wellness mini-session in between programming sessions.

There are two locations available for nursing mothers: 

  • Lobby level near the CEC Solutions desk right outside the Expo Hall
  • 200 level near 254 A

You do not need a key to enter these rooms, but be sure to lock them when you are inside. Please check the floormap in Whova to find exact location

If you’re looking for something (or if you’ve found something), please come to the Solutions Desk.

If you’ve already talked to a CEC staff member about your need, head to the CEC Solutions desk. If you need to request an accommodation, please email [email protected] as soon as possible.

The Whova app has the most up-to-date information on all sessions, meetings, and other events. Check the app each day, as room assignments for sessions may change.

Yes! Any materials the speakers have made available will be accessible in the Whova event app through July 9, 2026.

You’ll find poster sessions in the Expo Hall. When you’re searching for posters on the app, you’ll see the location listed as a letter and a number (i.e. “Poster B22”). That location refers to the poster round (time block) and the specific numbered board within that round where you can find the poster.

Information on accessing the CEU portal will be emailed to all attendees after convention.

 

Pro-tip: Use the Whova app and add the sessions you attended to the “My Agenda” section so you have a record that you can easily access! 

 

The portal to request CEUs will be open through July 30, 2026.

There are two ticketed events happening. Each of these requires an additional registration for admittance.

  • Awards and Recognition Luncheon, Thursday, 11:30 am-1 pm, Expo Hall
  • CEC Celebration, Friday, 6:00-8:00 pm, Flanker Kitchen and Sporting Club

If you already purchased your tickets, you can pick them up at the Special Events desk at registration.

 

There are limited tickets available for the CEC Celebration on Friday. Stop by the Special Events desk at registration to purchase.

 

You can stop by the Special Events desk to see if there are any openings for the Awards Luncheon.

These events are open to all attendees (and they’ll feature free appetizers!)

  • Opening Reception, Wednesday, 6:30-8:30 pm, Salt Palace Convention Center

Check the Whova app for the most up-to-date information on the time and location of a specific meeting. You can search the track “Divisions & Units” or “Affinity Groups” to see all meetings.

The Expo Hall will be open to visit all the vendors, the Technology Playground, Wellness Pavilion, Student-Run Enterprises (“Student Store”), Sticker Bar, etc. at the following times: 

  • Wednesday, 3/11 | 1:00 pm-5:00 pm
  • Thursday, 3/12 | 8:00 am-4:00 pm
  • Friday, 3/13 | 8:00 am-1:00 pm 

Hit the Hub! The CEC Hub, located in the Expo Hall, includes a space to learn more about membership and join CEC or one of our Special Interest Divisions. You can also earn chips to drop in the CEC Clinko board and win prizes!

Open Wednesday ONLY from 1:00-5:00 pm in the Expo Hall right by the posters! 

 

Stop by the Teacher Lounge to grab a sticker or two (seriously, save some for the rest of us) that you can use to decorate your water bottle, laptop, cell phone, planner, face... the possibilities are endless!
